Northorn enters the blogosphere

My on-line persona has been “Northorn” for a long time. The name came about when I created a new character on Everquest. This was my second run at Everquest. I had played heavily on my first EQ account for a couple years then quit and got rid of my account. Later I created a new account and needed a name for a new character. I wanted to play a barbarian warrior. Barbarians are “born” in Everfrost Peaks in the frozen north of the EQ world so I wanted a name that felt cold. I liked Northern but it was taken. So I started trying alternate spellings and finally ended up with Northorn and I’ve had it ever since. The nice thing about using Northorn for a username is that it is never already taken. I really hate having to append a number onto the end of my username because it is already taken.

I’m not sure where this blog is going to go so I’ll just have to see where it takes me. I’ll definitely be posting about one line gaming. I’m playing World of Warcraft pretty heavily right now. I’ll probably post screenshots and maybe even movies. I played WoW a lot up to the mid 50s before Burning Crusade came out. I got bored with it and quit for over a year. Then I bought Burning Crusade and have been trying to level up to 70 for Wrath of the Liche King. I’m almost 66 so I should be able to make it.

I’m also really interested in Metaplace. It’s a new service (in alpha testing currently) that allows users to create their own worlds. You can create your own art, maps, sound effects and write scripts to customize your world. You can create anything you want from a single player arcade type game to a massively multiplayer game. Plus you can embed your creations into any web site.

I’m in to software development also and particularly into game development so I’m sure I’ll be posting about that here as well.
